  1. 1780

a)      Battle of Cape St. Vincent

b)     Charleston, SC is taken by the British

c)      Loyalist forces kill surrendering American soldiers in the Waxhaw Massacre.

d)     Battle of Camden

e)      Benadict Arnold turns trator and flees to British-held New York

f)       Patriots win the Battle of Kings Mountain

  1. 1781

a)      Richmond, Virginia is burned by British naval forces led by Benadict Arnold

b)     Americans defeat the British in the Battle of Cowpens

c)      The Articles of Confederation are ratified

d)     Nathanael Greene loses Battle of Guilford Court House to British.

e)      The French fleet comes into the Chesapeake Bay, cutting off British General Cornwallis escape.

f)       General Graves gives up trying to break through the now-reinforced French fleet and returns to New York, leaving Cornwallis to his fate.

g)      General Cornwallis surrenders to General Washington, ending the Revolution.

Nathanael Greene loses Battle of Guilford Court House to British.


I have a cousin named Nathaniel Greene biggrin I'm pretty sure the one you're talking about is spelt Green though. I don't know.

1790...rhode island ratified the constitution and a week later the bill of rights were too.

1789 ...Washington was inaugurated at federal hall in manhatten.

1787.. was the constitutional Convention of 1787.to make reformatinos to the united states constitution.(secret!!)

3.      1782

a)      George Washington orders the creation of the Badge of Military Merit to honor soldiers wounded in battle. It is later renamed to the more poetic "Purple Heart".

b)      The Treaty of Paris is formally signed.

4.      1783

a)      Great Britain finally agrees to stop hostilities with the US.

b)     Spain recognizes US independence.

c)      US General George Washington formally leaves the army in New York.

d)     Loyalists flee to Canada.

5.      1784

a)      US Congress ratifies the Treaty of Paris

b)     The Methodist Church is created.

c)      America begins to export the first cotton as a country

6.      1785

a)      The US Congress officially accepts the US dollar as its coinage, becoming the first country to have a decimal coinage system.

7.      1786

a)      Shays Rebellion begins

b)     Land ordinance of 1786

c)      Annapolis convention begins

8.      1787

a)      Shays Rebellion fails after the Massachusetts militia attacked them but it showed the government that the Articles of Confederation werent working.

b)     Delegates from the states arrive in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to form a new Constitution for the US in secret.

c)      US Congress enacts the Northwest Ordinance, which established governing rules for the Northwest Territory, procedures for the admission of new states, and limits to the expansion of slavery.

d)     The United States Constitution is adopted by the Convention (but not yet ratified)

e)      The Federalist Papers were written.

f)       Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey ratify the Constitution (in that order)

9.      1788

a)      Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, and New York ratify the Constitution (in that order)

10.   1789

a)      The first US national election takes place.

b)     The Electoral College unanimously elects George Washington the first President.

c)      The first US Congress (under the Constitution) meets in New York City.

d)     The Department of Foreign Affairs (later renames the Department of State), the War Department, and the Department of Treasury are created.

e)      The Judiciary Act of 1789 is passed

f)       The United States Bill of Rights is ratified.

g)      The War Department establishes the first regular army in the US.

North Carolina (finally) ratifies the Constitution

Cornwallis does surrender to Washington but it is because he was blockaded on a peninsula wihtt he French Navy at his back and Washington and Lafayette's forces moving in. after three days of bombardment he gives up.

*stares* Wow, you definately went all out on this one lol...well I will admit, there are some battles you mentioned that I completely forgot about/had no idea of, this being one of them...

The naval Battle of Cape St Vincent, or Battle of Cape Santa Maria, took place on 16 January 1780, during the American Revolutionary War and was a victory of a British fleet under Admiral Sir George Rodney over a Spanish squadron under Don Juan de Lángara. It is also known as the Moonlight Battle, because it was unusual for naval battles in the age of sail to take place at night.

more on shay's rebellion-
led by daniel shays. it was poor framers who were losing thier property due to high debt and taxes. many were revolution veterans. they went to a debtors court and shut it down. the militia was then sent to end the rebellion. it was ended feb. 3rd, 1787. shays was  sentance to death for treason, other leaders and members were mostly pardoned by mass governor.
