Summary:The 1980s were a new day for Americas conservative right. The conservative cause drew added strength from the emergence of a New Right movement.Reagan led Republicans to victories in 1980 and 1984 over divided and demoralized Democrats.Reagan pushed his supply-side economic program of lower taxes and the new-right social policies. These policies brought economic recovery and lower inflation. The Supreme Court under Reagan became very conservative.Reagan also rejuvenated the Cold War confrontation with the Soviet Union and engaged the United States in forceful military support of anti-leftist forces in Latin America. The increase of military spending contributed to the unraveling of Communism in Easter Europe and the Soviet Union.George Bush also lead a victory in the Persian Gulf War.

How much is dropping 508 points? I obviously don't really know the stock market well so I have no clue how bad that is. And I didn't even know that Bush defeated someone with the name Dukakis haha. Quite the name... But I don't understand how an act could really truly stop discrimination.. I mean, discrimination is also kind of how people feel, not just the way they act towards people.
i was just wondering, what exaclty does the 27th amendment entail? im sure it it very important, but numbers dont mean anything to me haha.
The 27th amendment to the United States Constitution provides that any change in the salary of members of United States Congress may only take effect after the next general election. Sometimes called the "Congressional Compensation Amendment of 1789," the "Congressional Pay Amendment," and the "Madison Amendment," it was intended to serve as a restraint on the power of Congress to set its own salaryan obvious conflict-of-interest.

Brandi, a fall of 508 points is a HUGE drop and very worrisome for everyone. Also this is Bush Sr. she was talking about, the first president Bush. Also the Americans with Disabilties Act is a very big deal because it made buildings more handicapped accessable and made it so a handicapped will not stopped someone from being hired somewhere.
Umm i have a question. Why was the Berlin wall torn down? this probably sounds dumb but i honestly dont know.
It was torn down because it had been a symbol of 40+ years of communist oppression, dividing families and citizens. When Gorbachev didn't use Soviet troops to put down protests in Eastern Europe, each of the communist governments there began to figure out that they were on their own. One night in November 1989, people began to mass on the eastern side of the wall because a rumor went around that they were going to be opened. One of the East German military police commanders held a very hasty press conference, thinking that his superiors would give him instructions. When he didn't get his orders, and the people kept pressing him for answers, he got very flustered and shuffled his papers around. Someone asked, "When are the gates going to be opened?" and he looked at his papers and mumbled, "...at once... I assume... perhaps... " and then pandamoneum broke out. Average people went to the main Brandenberg gate. The guards there had standing orders to shoot, but they were confused too because no one at the top was giving them instructions. Thousands of people were there with only a few guards. They didn't shoot. Someone climbed the wall and brought up an old flag. Cheers went up. Seeing this on the western side, other crowds there forced the gates open, hoping they would not be killed. When that didn't happen, everyone cheered again. The wall was opened and would soon be brought down with sledgehammers. I saw it all on TV... I'll never forget it.
"No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened."
Any change in the salaryof members of the US Congress can only take effect after the next general election. (Congressional Compensation Amendment of 1789, Congressional Pay Amendment, or the Madison Amendment) This amendment has not stopped members of Congress from receiving annual pay raises.
I know this is probably a very dumb question... but who is Dukakis? I have never heard of this man....ever!!!
Michael Stanley Dukakis is an American Democratic politician. He was governor of Massachusetts and the Democratic presidential nominee in 1988 but lost to Bush. He was also the longest serving governor in Massachusetts' history.
If the Berlin Wall was torn down because it had been a symbol of 40 plus years of communist oppression, dividing families and citizens. Do you think Gorbachev and the Soviet troops (who lacked participation due to Gorbachev's command) aided in ending communism all together, or just to put down protests and trigger the idea of self government to the communist societies ?
