His schedule shows that he is a person who wants peace and tries to instill morals in other people by having speechs and talks to many people internationally.  Other people living in peace and caring about others is what is important to him.
HE HISTORY OF THE FREE TIBET MOVEMENT STARTED OFF WITH 57 YEARS OF MISMANAGEMENT BY THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA AND WHEN THE CHINESE INVADED THEM KNOWING TIBET HAS NO RESOURCES TEHY HAVE PRETTY MUCH WON. NOW THE TIBETANS ARE TRYING TO FREE THIER COUNTRY AGAIN.
10 things i learned.:
1. that he travels around teh world.
2. that on the 16th day of the first month on there calender he gives a spring teaching.
3.His Holiness also gives a number of public talks on topics that are close to his heart.
4.During the winter months in India, His Holiness often visits Bodh Gaya or some of the Tibetan settlements located in south India where he also regularly gives teachings.
5.the teachings he gives close to his heart last about an hour.
6. The essential point is that the people living in Tibet are extremely important.
7.So far the broad masses of the public in Tibet have remained in a distressed state as a result of the deprivation of their freedoms.
8.The reality of the situation in Tibet today is such that one has no choice but to rely on Chinese language if one is to become modern educated.
9.To them all I express rejoice and offer praise for efforts well made. Whatever be the case, making efforts in the field of education is highly important.
10.The main reason why we especially devoted more attention to setting up schools was because it was extremely obvious that one cause of the miserable situation in which the Tibetan race found itself in was attributable to our major failure of being up to the standard in the field of modern knowledge.

The schedule of the Dalai Lama indicates his willingness to teach and spread his views. He seems like a very compassionate and noble person, someone who lives to better themself and the world. His faith is definitely important to him, as well as Tibet, and the future well being of humankind.
   The Free Tibet movement grew following the Chinese invasion and occupation of Tibet. The subsequent exile of the 14th Dalai Lama seems to be the spark of the Free Tibet movement. Ever since, the group has campaigned for a peaceful resolution to the situation in Tibet, and through concerts, marches, and Independence supporters, the association has garnered plenty of attention as well as raised thousands of dollars.
   I have learned: if the present situation regarding Tibet remains the same, the Dalai Lama will be born outside Tibet away from the control of the Chinese authorities, the institution of the Dalai Lama remains or not depends entirely on the wishes of the Tibetan people, His Holiness remarks that he spends 80% of his time on spiritual activities and the other 20% on Tibet, when asked by people how His Holiness the Dalai Lama sees himself, he replies that he is a simple Buddhist monk, it is possible to divide every kind of happiness and suffering into two main categories: mental and physical, and of the two, it is the mind that exerts the greatest influence on most of us, the thirteenth Dalai Lama  in 1878, was recognized as the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama following predictions from the state oracles and auspicious signs at his birth, the thirteenth Dalai Lama established the Tibetan Medical Institute which is well know today as Men-Tse Khang, in December 1989, the fourteenth Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Prize, the Dalai Lama is the author or co-author of over sixty books, and His Holiness has visited over sixty-five countries spanning six continents.
   Kundun tells its viewers to never lose sight of the commitment to compassion. In the film the life of the Dalai Lama is portrayed as auspicious, while the Communists are seen as deceitful, barbaric, and savage.

  1. What can you tell about the Dalai Lama from examining his schedule? What type of person is he? What is important to him? - From reading his schedule it is very easy to see that he is a very busy man. He seems to be a very caring man that will go through whatever it takes so that the message of kindness and non-violence is told to everyone. He obviously cares very much about the well being of everyone, so much in fact, that he is going to global to give out the message. Its important for him to have everyone know that there are other remedies other than violence, there are other ways of dealing with things that dont necessarily have to mean violence. I just basically think that the most important thing to him is the well being of the world and everyone that is living inside of it.
  2. Explain the history behind the Free Tibet Movement by examining information on various websites. Basically the whole point of the Free Tibet Movement is to break away from the Chinese hold that is on the Tibetan people. Now the other issue that is very big in the freedom of Tibet is the issue about the kidnapping of the Dalai Lama by the Chinese people. The invasion of Tibet by the Chinese communist. The Dalai Lama was and still is one of the people most involved with trying to go back in forth with the Chinese people so that the problem could be fixed. The result of his issue was that the Dalai Lama was sent out of Tibet and still, to this day, has not returned to his homeland. Another major issue in Tibet that is affecting the Tibetan people heavily is the issue involving the rioting done by the Tibetan people against the Chinese for exploiting a mountain that is very sacred to the Tibetan people.
  3. Tell me 10 things youve learned about the Dalai Lama and the Free Tibet Movement from examining the official website. 1. The Dalai Lama has the responsibility of having to deal with all of the problems and issues that concern his Tibetan people.  2. He is the number one spokesperson of his people to speak either for or against any issue that comes up. 3. The 14th Dalai Lama was considered a reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama. (Thats how its been since the first Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama initially picks a successor to take his place for when he dies, but if the Dalai Lama dies before he has the opportunity to choose one himself,. Then a bunch of Tibetan children are gathered and are forced to go through some little challenges and the one who comes out as the more qualified becomes the Dalai Lama.) 4. On the 16th day of the first month of the Tibetan calendar, usually around February of March, the Dalai Lama gives his annual spring teachings to his people. 5. The Dalai Lama continually goes all over the world to spread his message of kindness and non-violence. He is currently in Sydney, Australia where he was greeted by the Tibetan community that lives there. (to be continued.....)biggrin

From examining his schedule at his web site I could tell that the Dalai Lama is an important person.  He is a very important person and I think he is the type of person that would forgive anyone for the pain they put him though and that he is just trying to regain what he lost.  I also think that his philosephy and peace are important to him because that is what he believes in and it's been working for him.

For thousands of years, the Tibetan people believe that the Dalai Lama has been reincarnated throughout history.  But the Chinese government tok over Tibet and they want the Tibetan people to live the way they want them to, but they don't want to.  The Dalai Lama has chosed a boy who will be his sucessor, but the Chinese government kidnapped him and no one has seen him seince he was about 6 or 7 years old.  So now the Tibetan people don't know their fate for what will happen next.  The Chinese chose a boy that will be the Dalai Lama, but the Tibetan's don't believe in this boy.

1::: Tibet used to be it's own country until China took over
2::: He was born on July 6, 1935
3::: He is very peaceful
4::: Tibetan music is scarry
5::: Tibetan people make these sand art things that take a lot of time and effort and then when they're done, they ruin it
6::: He believes in the human values of compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, contentment and self discipline
7::: He fights for the Tibetan's right to be their own free country
8::: He's written many books
9::: He travels to a lot of places trying to promote  his beliefe and to free the Tibetan people from the Chinese government
10::: He is unsure whether or not there will be another Dalai Lama

I think that the message of the movie Kundun is to never give up in what you beliee in.  The movie portrays the life of the Dalai Lama and the Chinese Communist government by showing the Dalia Lama in his most proud moments for his people and the Chinese Communist government seems like bullies picking on the peaceful people that they know wont fight back and if they try they aren't fit to fight China at all... I don't like Communism.

(CONTINUED:)
10 things Ive learned from official Dalai Lama site:
- 6. The Dalai Lamas real name is Tenzing Gyatso. He is the spiritual leader of Tibet as well as the head of the state. 7. When he was recognized as the Dalai Lama his name was changed to Lhamo Dhondup. 8. The Dalai Lama was asked once how he views himself and he said that he thinks of himself as a simple monk because thats something that no one can take away from. He knows that being a Dalai Lama can easily be taken away but the fact that hes a monk is something that can never be taken away from him. 9. In a news part of the site there was a section that told about the news that were taken in 2005, there was a part that told of the Tibet wanting to become a democratic free place. Basically the Dalai Lama said in a speech that if Tibet ever became a free democratic place it wouldnt need a Dalai Lama. That helped preserve the community of Tibet in a great way. He also said that he didnt care of Chinese sovereignty as much as he cared for the well being of his community. 10. When the Dalai Lama wanted to go to Sydney, China was giving them a hard time because since Australia is a free democratic place they didnt want to allow him to go. But the foreign minister of Australia called for China to respect Australias democracy and allow the Dalai Lama to go. They made it obvious that they understood that Chinas government was very different but since the Dalai Lama was such a great religious figure worldwide, China should give him the opportunity to go and speak his mind. The permission was in fact granted and he is currently in Sydney, Australia.

What is the message of the movie, Kundun? How does the movie portray the life of the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government? The basic message of the movie is to really appreciate and keep what you believe in close to you. Obviously the Tibetan people go through a lot because of the strong hold that is on the Tibetan people by the Chinese government but even though thats true they still remain so true to their belief and that s what helps them keep dealing with that theyre dealing with. The movie does a good job at portraying exactly how the Dalai Lama is chosen and what the Dalai Lama has to do and go through in order to take good care of his country. The Dalai Lama is bestowed with a lot of responsibilities as he becomes the ruler of his country and has to deal with all of that at a very young age. He is faced with many challenges by the Chinese people because the Chinese are communist and since they are in control of Tibet they want Tibet to also be a communist country. Even though the Tibetan people have their own beliefs to follow, they are forced to follow the ideas of the Chinese people because they are under their control. That is a lot for one person to deal with but he agrees to deal with it and take the title of Dalai Lama which is a very respectable title to take. The movie showed all of those major details and helped us get a better idea of what he actually has to deal with.

What can you tell about the Dalai Lama from examining his schedule at http://www.dalailama.com/page.60.htm? What type of person is he? What is important to him?

He is really concerned with issues of opression and violence all over the world. He is a person who really wants his message to be heard, he travels all over the world constantly. He gives lectures and advises other countries on nonviolence and freedom for Tibet. Nonviolent actions and freedom for his country, Tibet are most important to him.

Explain the history behind the Free Tibet Movement by examining information on various websites, such as http://www.freetibet.org/, http://www.tibet.org/, and http://www.savetibet.org/?

The Free Tibet Movement started when through the Dalai Lama and others people in other countries realized what what was going on in Tibet. They realized how important it was to educate others on the political events taking place in Tibet. They hope that their actions will get others involved and that they will be able to urge other countries that work with China to condemn what China has done and they will have no choice but to allow Tibet to be its own independent country again.

Tell me 10 things youve learned about the Dalai Lama and the Free Tibet Movement from examining his official website at http://www.dalailama.com/.

1) The Dalai Lama can be voted out of power with a 2/3 vote by the Assembly
2) The Dalai Lama only wants self rule for Tibet, he does not want to be completely seperate from China.
3) The Dalai Lama holds three things as most important to him-1) to carry out all human values as compassion and tolerance, 2) to promote religious tolerance among all world religions and 3) to speak out for Tibet until it is free to rule itself
4) The Dalai Lama is not only the religious leader of Tibet, but also its political leader
5) The Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Prize
6) He donated the Nobel Peace prize money to starving people, leprosy programs, existing programs that work for peace and money to help establish a Tibetan Foundation for Universal Responsibility
7) He speaks out for the cause of world peace as well as the environment so future generations do not have to inherit a degraded planet
8) He advocates tree planting and other actions to protect the environment from being destroyed
9) China plans to build nuclear weapons and dump its own, as well as other countries, nuclear wastes in Tibet
10) Some countries will not allow the Dalai Lama to come and speak because of pressure from the Chinese government

What is the message of the movie, Kundun? How does the movie portray the life of the Dalai Lama and the Chinese Communist government?

The message of the movie is how the Dalai Lama mutured from the time he was a little boy to being the leader of Tibet. It showed how he stood up for his country without violence and he stuck with his values. The movie portrays the life of the Dalai Lama as a young boy who kept the values he was taught which was to use nonviolence in order to stand up to others. It protrays the Chinese Communist government as an oppressive, ruthless government that destroyed Tibet and really hurt its people.
