Gulf War 1991- The Gulf War resulted from Iraqs invasion of Kuwait and the United States embargo on Iraq in 1991. It was a conflict between Iraq an allied forced for about 30 nations. It was led bu the US and the United Nations was involved in order to try to liberate Kuwait. The war began with the invasion of Kuwait. Iraq launched missiles against Saudi Arabia and Israel.
End of Cold War 1992- The Cold War was officially declared over on December 31, 1992. The break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991 is what caused it to end and made the US a world superpower.
Brady Bill 1993- Gun politics in the US over the Brady Bill had banned or regulated most kinds of atomic weapons and semi-atomic weapons. People now had to go through a 5 day waiting time to check criminal records before purchasing a weapon.
Bill Clinton 1993- Became president in 1993. He served from 1993-2001. During his presidency the world continued a transition from the political order from the Cold War, and the US experienced its longest period of peace time economic expansion in history.
World Trade Center Bombing 1993- The World Trade Center was bombed in 1993 by an explosive-filled van. It led to awareness in the US of international terrorism as a rising threat.
Peace Process 1993- Israeli Prime Minister Itzhak Rabin and Palestinian Prime Minister Yasser Arafat agreed to the Peace Process at Oslo Accords, which was negotiated by the United States President Bill Clinton on September 13, 1993.
Illegal Immigration Issue 1994- The issue in the US became big when California voters approved Proposition 187, which would prevent undocumented immigrants from using public services, but was later blocked by federal courts.
Dot-com Boom 1995- The 1990's to 2000 was a time marked by the founding of a group of new Internet based companies referred to as dot-coms. It was a combination of rapidly increasing stock prices, individual speculation in stocks, which was focused on the increasing market share at the expense of the bottom line. The internet revolutionized modern culture.
North American Free Trade Agreement- It phased out trade barriers between the US, Mexico, and Canada. It was signed into law by Clinton.
